HOW TO: 7 STEPS TO CREATE THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS TREE

So christmas is getting closer which means I'm getting more excited by the day. Our family have so many traditions around christmas time but the first thing we have to do to get in the spirit is to get our tree up! Christmas would be bare without it + we have always loved our tree + you can feel the same! So here are some steps to help you fall in love with your tree and get into the christmas spirit.

STEP ONE: Pick Your Tree + Put It Up - Wether you prefer fake trees or real ones we want them all to look perfect so try any pick a tree thats symmetrical and full. We have a fake tree because I love it looking symmetrical far too much and it's lasted over 10 years. Put your tree up where you want it and move some branches about so they are all as evenly spread as can be.
Tip: Just make sure you pick a tree thats fits in your room and has space on top to put your fairy or star!

STEP TWO: Light It Up - Our tree is 6ft and we tend to use 400 lights but it completely depends on how bright you want your tree to be. We normally go for warm coloured lights for our lounge but after moving we could only find a set of warm lights and a set of white lights so they have had to do for now and they actually brighten the tree up nicely. With the warm coloured set we did a zig zag pattern so that we had most of them showing at the front, then because we had more white lights we did full circles around the whole tree because I've always hated when the back of the tree isn't decorated. Also it is totally your preference as to wether you want to start your light at the top or the bottom. We started at the top this year and it did seem to make it easy to spread out but I also think it's good starting at the bottom because then you can pick where the plug will end. Remember Before you start putting the lights on always plug them in to check they all work.
Tip: keep the lights on whilst your string them so you can keep track of where they are.

STEP THREE: Go Crackers - Now the lights are on you need to look over the tree and find where all the biggest gaps are in the tree then place a cracker in there to fill it up. I find that this makes a massive difference to how symmetrical and 'perfect' the tree ends up looking.

STEP FOUR: Tinsel + Beads - People seem to have so many different opinions about tinsel and beads and I actually think they look tacky on their own but I have always loved them on our tree. We pick two different types of tinsel (obviously ones that match though) and then put them on alternate down the tree and evenly spread out. We also cut the tinsel to certain lengths to fit around the tree. Ive never liked cutting up the beads and tying it around branches so we string it around the tree. Once again evenly spread it out down the tree and go all the way around the back and kind of drape it so it droops down between branches. Don't worry if the beds aren't perfectly symmetrical or the tinsel isn't straight, you are best fixing any of those things once the tree is finished. If tinsel and beads isn't your things then you can leave them off or even use thick ribbon to drape around your tree in a spiral.

STEP FIVE: Organise - Lay out of you baubles and ornaments on the floor and group them into different types and then all the individual ornament you have put to one side.

STEP 6: Get Decorating - First we start with out big baubles that we hang right at the bottom of the tree all evenly spread out. Then we pick our largest amount of simple baubles first which is always our plain gold baubles and our little gold instruments. we scatter them all around the tree then we carry on doing this with the rest of the groups of baubles. Once the tree is looking quite full then we save the best till last. We place our favourite and most memorable ornaments down the middle of the tree and we buy a new one each year.
Tip: Make sure all your ornaments, especially the glass ones, are secure on the branch so that they can't be knocked off.

STEP 7: Finishing Touches - Place your angel or star in it's pride of place and put your tree skirt around the bottom. Eventually finish the tree off by filling underneath it with lots of nice prezzies and cover the tree in real candy canes and chocolates so that everyone can enjoy your tree!

Once you have finished everything off you can keep tweaking bits that are bugging you but becareful not to mess too much because I find it always ends up looking worse! I hope after following this you manage to create the perfect christmas tree to wow all your guests. I have always loved our christmas tree and It has always been a christmas tradition to always have it similar to how it looks here (that's why some things look a bit dated!).

Whats your family tradition? Or your favourite thing about christmas? And what do you think makes the perfect christmas tree!? Get in touch and let me know because I absolutely love christmas. Hope you are all getting as excited as me!

FRANK BODY - COFFEE SCRUB REVIEW + HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN FOR CHRISTMAS

After posting about the gorgeous make up brushes that I thought would be perfect for christmas I then thought I just had to let you all now about this miracle scrub I recently started using. Although it may not seem an obvious christmas choice, after trying it, I actually think it would be a brilliant gift for christmas!

I had been eyeing these coffee scrubs for ages but there are so many different types out there that I never knew where to start looking but I seemed to keep coming across the name 'Frank Body' so after reading about their products on their website I was desperate to try one. They use so many different and intriguing natural products in their scrubs that I wanted to see what difference they could really have on my skin. Now, I would be here all day if I told you about them all and their benefits so check out the site here to find out all the magic they can work but I will just tell you a little bit about whats in the coconut one I use.

I have recently become obsessed with coconut oil for all different reasons and I have always loved the smell so I knew this would be the one for me. All of their scrubs have coffee in them and so they should with all the benefits it has to your skin! It scrubs away all of your dry and flakey skin, better than any other scrub products I've used, leaving it super smooth and perfectly ready to moisturise. It also has a list of other benefits such as stimulating blood flow, targeting psoriasis, eczema, and acne and It’s also full of antioxidants and amino acids that rejuvenate the skin, improving firmness and texture while reducing redness. Along with the coffee, the coconut scrub also has some other great ingredients such as:

Grape Seed Oil - which assists in cell repair and heeling of the skin along with other things.
Coconut Oil - which has anti inflammatory, anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. It targets breakouts and skin infection and gives your skin moisture without blocking your pores, see why I'm obsessed with it!?
Jojoba Beads - a natural cleanser and moisturiser that's perfect for sensitive and problem prone skin and removes dry dead cells which keeps pores clear and healthy!

I read all of that and thought it was too good to be true. There was no way it was going to exfoliate and firm my skin as well as help get rid of cellulite! After the first use though, I was a believer. I honestly couldn't believe how smooth all my skin was, especially my bum and back of thighs, They had never been that smooth and I had always used scrubs and exfoliated to try and look after my skin. With how my skin felt afterwards I genuinely believe it is the natural ingredients that makes all the difference. It is full of grains of coffee which I love in a scrub and which makes it feel so much more satisfying when you are applying it. I haven't even used this scrub as often as I probably should have but it doesn't even seem to matter because the results are so drastic after just one use.

If you have been looking for a product to help reduce your cellulite and all the little lumps and bumps that keep appearing on the back of your arms and legs in front of your eyes then I definitely recommend this scrub. They also have Original, Peppermint and Cacao scrubs if coconut isn't your thing. Since buying this scrub I have been eyeing up their other products as well not knowing which one to buy next but they are soon releasing a lib scrub and lip balm duo that is now at the top of my wish list for the next month. Lip scrubs are the best!

If the price of these products is putting you off buying it for a friend or you aren't sure if you're a scrub kind of girl then you could always try making your own. I have seen some lovely recipes knocking about that I have vowed to myself I have to try so here's my favourites for you:

I love the colour of this one and and it looks quite thick which I like scrubs to be. Plus, how cute do they look as presents! You could even cover the lid in cloth or wrapping paper to make t even more christmassy.

This is one I saw on ELLE online and I thought it looked like a pretty simple recipe. After trying a coffee scrub I just want to stick with it!

Hope your enjoy trying out these scrubs, just a warning though. it may get messy. Do any of you have a favourite scrub? Have you found any natural products that you find work amazing for beauty? Please let me know because I'm sure I'll be super thankful for it!

CHRISTMAS STOCKING FILLERS - MAKE UP BRUSH REVIEWS

So it's time to start looking down your list of people to buy for this christmas and to start getting all their presents ready so that you can start to feel organised and relaxed for the holidays. If you are like me though then you always have to find the most perfect presents for all your friends and family whilst finding them all at the best prices! How much time does it all take up though? Scouring the internet for hours to find the ideal present that you have pictured in your head because you know they will love it and then looking on every website you can possibly think of to see if you are getting the cheapest deal. It's frustratingly tiring especially when buying and giving gifts at christmas should be enjoyable and fulfilling!

I have always spent hours going through this process when buying birthday presents for friends, christmas gifts for family or even just buying some shoes or a bag for myself. So this year I decided I was going to write some quick posts to show you guys some cute gifts I've found at purse friendly prices.

REAL TECHNIQUES LIMITED EDITION DUO FIBRE SET

Real Techniques Limited Edition Duo Fibre Set - £23.99

The first cute little gift I have to show you guys is the gorgeous Real Techniques Limited Edition Duo Fibre Set. I was lusting after these brushes as soon as I saw them and then completely fell in love as soon as they arrived in my hands. They are like no other brushes I've ever owned. Towards the head of the brushes where the white hairs start to come through they are so fluffy and soft and they aren't as dense as the rest of the real techniques collection which makes them great for light coverings of powder or gently blending or applying subtle eyeshadow or blushers. They just create perfectly blended and smooth looks which is what we all want isn't it!? Plus they are white! who wouldn't love white make up brushes!? (They also clean so well and look brand new again.) They are so beautiful and perfect for christmas, no girl could be disappointed with these!

EBAY KABUKI BRUSH SET

10 Piece Kabuki Make Up Brushes - £5.45

I also have an alternative for you guys. I have been stocking up on all kinds of brushes lately and I came across these brushes on eBay and really liked the look of them. I had heard some good reviews about them before which made me even more encouraged to buy them (because lets face it, it is eBay so who knows what they would actually be like!) and I have to say, I have been impressed! They look gorgeous, so gorgeous in fact that I have them on display on my dressing table, and they are also some of the softest brushes I've ever owned! The only problem I've had with these is that one of the handles was loose but I just ended up pulling it out, sticking some nail glue on the end and sticking it back and now you would never know so don't let that put you off (just make sure to check them before you give them to your friends!) Also the only downfall to buying these brushes over the Real Techniques as christmas gifts is the packaging because they only come in a little plastic bag. I though they could look quite cute though if you tie them all together with ribbon and a bow and then put them in a little gift bag or box.

The exact listing for these brushes has now ended but I have a similar listing for you here
They are also available in all different colours and sets so theres something to suit everyone.

Personally I love both these sets of brushes and I already have some ordered as presents for both friends and family so Im sure there will be people you are buying for that would love them as well. Have you found any cute stocking fillers this year? What are your latest favourite make up buys and what are some of the cutest gifts you have found for your girlies this year? Get in touch and let me know!

HOW TO: GET ORGANISED THIS CHRISTMAS

I'm backkk... and I have to ask, is anyone else as excited for christmas as I am!? I love everything about christmas, from christmas jumpers to buying presents, from all the yummy food to wrapping gifts, from christmas tree's to a night to celebrate with all my family. I love the excitement that fills the air everywhere you go wether its mad shopping centers or long walks in the cold, every experience just feels different at christmas time BUT we all know how stressful it can be at the same time. That's why I like to try and get prepared and organised for the whole holiday NOW!

Christmas, xmas, relaxed, organised, stress free, to do, lists, food, christmas dinner, christmas lists, how to, shopping list, decorations, month plan, planner, schedule, recipes, muppets, christmas, carol, spirit

In November I always love to write out all my lists for christmas, I love writing lists. Lists make you feel so organised and give you so much satisfaction when you get to tick everything off (am I sounding sad write about now?) so I wrote down what I think the must have lists are for christmas time so you can feel prepared and stress free too.

Lists to make -

PRESENTS TO BUY - I'll start with a list of everyone I need to buy for this year, then jot down ideas of presents that would suit them and what I associate with that person. Wether it's the job they have or a hobby they love or just an obsession they might have with an animal, film or music artist, anything helps. Then when you browse online at gifts you have something to search for or if you come across something in a shop then you know who would love that gift the most.

HOUSEHOLD DECORATIONS - Next I write a list of things that I'd like to buy for the house for christmas. We're hosting christmas again this year and with finally having the house nearly fully furnished we are now wanting to buy some new christmas decorations to go with the new look. Then we have all the table accessories and place settings to sort out and I also love making some little bits and bobs for the house like christmas tree trimmings, name place cards or even revamping some old decorations that we already have.

FOOD + DRINK - This is a list we all need to make because it's what christmas is all about isn't it? Make sure you have a big shopping list made that includes drinks that will be suitable for the kids or maybe some cocktails or mulled drinks you would like to try making like mulled Pimms or cider (recipes coming soon!). Then add all the food you will be needing for the christmas period, not just christmas dinner. What will you be eating as a christmas eve dinner? Do you have balm cakes for a leftovers christmas dinner sandwich on boxing day? And what will you be eating for your special christmas morning breakfast? apart from a cheeky bottle of bucks fizz and with a side of chocolate of course. Also you need to add on what stuff you will need for baking, which leads me onto the next list...

RECIPES - Write out what recipes you would like to try this christmas. Is it some cool cookies you have seen that you can do with the kids or is it making and decorating a yummy chocolate log or even just making some little santa's out of cream and strawberries. Whatever you fancy, including cocktails or mulled wine recipes, put them on your list then find a recipe you like and write it down or save it in a christmas recipes bookmarks folder on your computer. Of course, once that is done, check your cupboard and then write on your shopping list all the ingredients, decorations and baking equipment you will need to create that delicious dessert. (Posts on 'Impressive looking recipes to make this christmas' and 'christmas gifts baked with love' coming soon)

PERSONAL SHOPPING LIST - Now this is a list I always think I can get away with not having but then it gets to christmas or the end of winter and I wish I'd of wrote it because I have gone without jumpers or boots or a coat and end up getting it impulsively at the end of winter, which seems like a waste. Think about what you will need this christmas/winter. It could be a cardigan or shoes or a nice party dress, even jewellery or a bag. If those things can be bought in the christmas sale then great but think about wether you would get more use out of it if you bought it now and then go out and buy it! Just be careful not to buy something that you might of mentioned on your christmas list when your family have asked you what you want this year, that could be an awkward present to open (especially if you're wearing it already!).

SCHEDULELast but definitely not least, write lists with deadlines.

Figure out what you can get done in November -
examples buying presents, sorting out your decorations, wrapping gifts and writing cards.

Then write a list for the first fortnight in December -
examples cleaning the house, putting up your decorations and getting your christmas cards sent.

Do a list for the week before christmas -
examples picking up last minute gifts, getting your christmas shop, and getting all the table decorations together.

For the last few days before christmas I would write a plan for each individual day depending on what is left to get done.
examples Plan a night for baking, a day for prepping the food for christmas day (tip: you can chop up your veggies and leave them in a bowl of water ready to throw in the oven on christmas day) and remember to schedule in time to meet up with your friends and share a mulled wine whilst passing out your presents!

Try and get all the chores and stressful jobs finished in the last few days before christmas so that, on christmas eve, you can have a relaxed day seeing friends and a night with the family on the couch watching Muppets Christmas Carol!

Christmas, xmas, relaxed, organised, stress free, to do, lists, food, christmas dinner, christmas lists, how to, shopping list, decorations, month plan, planner, schedule, recipes, muppets, christmas, carol, spirit

Hope these tips have helped give you some ideas to start getting organised for the holidays. Check back soon to read many more posts all about christmas including 'Xmas food and drink recipes', 'Presents on all budgets for everyone on your christmas list', 'Gift wrapping ideas' and 'Things to do to enjoy this christmas' so check back soon.

How do you get organised for christmas? Does making lists keep your stress levels down like it does for me? and most importantly are you excited!? Let me know what you do in the lead up to christmas to feel stress free and to get in the christmas spirit!

Christmas, xmas, relaxed, organised, stress free, to do, lists, food, christmas dinner, christmas lists, how to, shopping list, decorations, month plan, planner, schedule, recipes, muppets, christmas, carol, spirit
P.S ALWAYS REMEMBER TO HAVE A CHILL AND ENJOY THE HOLIDAY!
